Healthy Eating During A Pandemic: 3 Foods You Should Eat
Now that we are living through one of the biggest health crises of the 21st century, a lot of people are scampering for ways to improve their overall health. While some are trying to go back or get into working out and doing calisthenics, others are engaging in self-care activities that will promote their mental well-being. Although these two practices are incredibly helpful in maintaining one’s health, there is no tip or trick more significant than healthy eating. According to NHS Inform, healthy eating habits can lead to a myriad of physiological benefits like reduced risk of developing type 2 diabetes, improved heart health, and stronger bones and teeth. If you want to reap all these benefits and more, let us help you with our Personal Meal Plan and eat more of the three food groups mentioned below:

It’s a well-known fact that fruits are particularly helpful in providing a myriad of nutrients for the body. However, if there is one kind that you should try to eat more than others, that would be citrus fruits. Thanks to the significant amount of antioxidants, vitamins, fibre, folate and potassium that they possess, citrus fruits are capable of supporting the immune system and guarding your body against digestive cancers. An article by Prevention also mentioned how these types of fruits can boost iron absorption, lower levels of LDL cholesterol and triglycerides and reduce the risk of kidney stones.
Whole grains
Whole grains have been a part of the human diet for eons, and it’s easy to see why. These kinds of food are not only packed with fibre, vitamins, and minerals, but also protein, antioxidants and plant compounds. The Healthline emphasised how all these nutrients can help lower the risk of various illnesses such as heart diseases, stroke, obesity, type 2 diabetes, and cancer. What’s great about whole grains is that they are so easy to prepare!
Green leafy vegetables
In one of our previous posts ‘Why You Should Follow a Plant-Based Diet’, we’ve cited some of the reasons why a plant-based diet would be ideal for those who are trying to achieve a healthier, leaner body. However, if it’s something that’s a little too difficult for you, the best course of action would be to incorporate lots of green leafy vegetables into your diet. These kinds of vegetables are low in calories and high in vitamins K, C and E, as well as phytonutrients like beta-carotene, lutein and zeaxanthin. To retain as many nutrients as you can, make it a habit to opt for dry cooking methods when preparing green leafy vegetables. It would also be a good idea to turn them into smoothies through a blender.
